Southward Bound

Southern stars, guide my heart, back to hallowed ground
From afar, I'm praying hard, praying to God I'm southward
bound

Where I'm from, ain’t for some, that Southern Sun, boy the
heat don’t play
And I don’t need, maps with streets, Little Lotts creek,
will lead the way

Closing time, County line, sip that shine, we like corn
that way
Now I’ve been told, these roads are closed, but if this
snow holds, I'm headed South to stay

I’ve been working all season, freezing, away in the Detroit
 cold
Sure as I'm breathing, I'm leaving, Baby I'm headed back
home

Southern stars, guide my heart, back to hallowed ground
From afar, I'm praying hard, praying to God I'm southward
bound
I’ll be southward, I’ll be southward bound

Southern will, is hard to kill, and mama’s meals, are
sacred proof
Shotgun shell, Daddy’s yell, and these Southern Belles, all
 ring loud and true

I’ve been working all season, freezing, away in the Detroit
 cold
Sure as I'm breathing, I'm leaving, Baby I'm headed back
home

Southern stars, guide my heart, back to hallowed ground
From afar, I'm praying hard, praying to God I'm southward

bound
I’ll be southward, I’ll be southward bound

I’ve been working all season, freezing, missing all my
kinfolk
Needing my southern, woman, baby I'm headed home

Southern stars, guide my heart, back to hallowed ground
From afar, I'm praying hard, praying to God I'm southward
bound
I’ll be southward, I’ll be southward bound
I’ll be southward, I’ll be southward bound
I’ll be southward, I’ll be southward bound
