For the next so many miles
Till we made it to Virginia
Where we had to say Goodbyes
That was on a summer morning

She said: Hoss, next time I see you
Will be under neon lights
As the years rolled away
From that old Winchester road
I became a man of fortune
I had fame and I had gold
And she did write her own story
She is a star on her own right
Saw her name in every paper
Every state a new headline
Made me think of that one evening

We were just EP and Ginny
Singing songs under the sky
Then one day at the Grand Ole' Opry
Her prediction did come true
On a stage behind the curtains
On show to help Saint Judes
Soon as we saw one another

We embraced into a hug
And she whispered in my ears

They will make a major circus

Of our lovely summer story

As I gazed upon her eyes

She slipped a photo into my pocket

Keepin' us the greatest secret
