When it’s time to die
I stare into the afterlife
As the veil begins to rise
Yet I refuse to let go of myself

Remember who I am
A mortal and a man
To be alive again
Afterlife be damned

I step out of the circle of light
It disappears in front of me
No pearly gates, no choir of angels

Just the flickering of a flashlight
And the crickets chirping in the night
The patter of rain on the leaves
And my body dead in a ditch

I hear the shovel biting the ground
I see the sweat on my killer’s brow
As he works to dispose of my corpse
There’s no return to my decaying flesh

Suddenly I sense it all
All the creatures of the night
The bugs and worms infesting my flesh
The predator just outside the light

Like a spider following a thread
I seek out the strongest life
Our thoughts mingle and meld
To a mind set on rage and blood

I hear the shovel falling to the ground
I hear the fear in my killer's cry
As my claws rend his body to pieces
There's no escape from a Dead Man's Hate

His spirit comes alive
As his body dies
Another circle of light
One of brimstone and fire
As he is pulled into the nether realm
And I'm trapped in this body
With a mind full of rage
But I can't break free
