Descend
I followed on the deep and wild way
And came to a place for descending.
A devil here behind,
Amid this cruel and dismal swarm.
Show us the way to the mountain:
A place where no light shines,
All the cruel valleys,
Dry, sterile thunder,
Those content in the fire,
The sad bank of the Acheron.
