CROSS-THEORY

Brought up in the land of the free, destiny unwinding
For a decade before it's compromise
Such a distinct path now corrodes underneath

The blade looked precious in the moonlight I'm sure
And the eager look on your face spoke poetically to such a fragile frame
We've fallen too far

You sweat with my tears and I've wept for years
Your lusting now for blood
Or perhaps for salvation (deranged salvation)

Staple my hands to this sheet, now show me your deceit
Lay me down and witness my defeat
You smother me with intent suffocate me

I found ways to represent this toxic recourse
I found ways to apprehend this alarming con of innocence
Learning, escaping, accepting
I found ways to represent this cross-theory.

How depressing to watch everything you have disappear until the only sense of ownership you can exercise is to strip someone of their life. Then again, once this has also been eradicated what else do you have? A loaded gun...and a self-destructive cycle.
