In my neighborhood today a child took a bullet down, the police and neighbors stopped and stared

All the rich folks were sleeping
And God was out of town
I believe it's time to take a stand

Well it's a really fine mess
Of a web we're all tangled in
We're in a few other countries
But in new orleans people drowning

Weeks and days had passed with no relief in sign
Our governments and people stared

Brought our people closer
God has its ways
I guess that I just don't understand

I'm taking matters in my own hands
Nobody knows nobody cares
Who gotta take a stand
Gonna try to pull you through

Well I don't know about you
But I like to walk the streets at night
Just to clear my head
Not for anything, especially not to fight

Now I'm carrying a piece and I'm looking over both of my shoulders

Take your precious time
Take our precious dime and do nothing!
